Amazon is reportedly piloting the use of Whole Foods Market stores for some omnichannel customer services.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Amazon is providing pickup and dropoff services for packages at select Whole Foods brick-and-mortar locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Amazon shoppers can either obtain assistance at a dedicated, staffed help desk or use a self-service kiosk. Help desk workers can pack and ship unboxed items, the article does not specify if this is a free service or costs extra.
The new piloted service is separate from the Amazon lockers which are also offered at some Whole Foods stores. At least one pilot store will hold customer packages for up to 15 days, while Amazon lockers offer only three days of item storage.
All Amazon customers can use the select Whole Foods stores as pickup and dropoff locations, but Amazon Prime members can get free same-day delivery to a Whole Foods store without a minimum order amount.
