Dunkin’ is expanding a test of a plan that could entice more people to earn rewards through its popular DD Perks loyalty program.
The coffee and doughnut chain said Tuesday it is expanding a program that lets customers earn reward points regardless of how they pay. The existing loyalty program requires that customers use an enrolled Dunkin’ gift card or the chain’s mobile app.
At 1,000 more locations, cash, credit and debit purchases where a new physical loyalty card or a DD Perks loyalty ID QR code in the Dunkin’ mobile app are scanned also will earn points, which can be redeemed for free drinks.
If the program is successful, the company says the change could be expanded nationwide.
“With this pilot, we have the opportunity to bring more guests than ever into DD Perks by opening new options to translate any purchase into points.” said Stephanie Meltzer-Paul, Vice President, Digital and Loyalty Marketing for Dunkin’ U.S., in a statement.
The pilot was announced the same day Starbucks’ new rewards program started.
